Paolo Minoia

Founder and First Pesident of the S.I.R.A.

Minoia Paolo has a degree in Agricultural Science in 1966 and in Veterinary Medicine in 1970. In 1980, he became professor of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics in Bari (Italy). He was involved in many duties and teaching positions in and outside of Italy, and has made ​​a significant contribution to the realization of the PhD Course in 'Biology of human and animal reproduction'. In addition, he played a key role in the realization of The Veterinary Teaching Hospital, The Centre of equine reproduction at the University of Bari, and in the accreditation of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE).

Prof. Minoia was the first President of the Italian Society of Animal Reproduction (SIRA). His scientific activity has resulted in over 250 articles covering various aspects of reproduction in different animal species.

In memory of Paolo Minoia the S.I.R.A. assigns an annual award to students who at graduation, discussed a thesis on topics of animal reproduction.
